Understanding the Rainbow: LGBTQ+ Pride with Scott Fearing In-Person
This session will provide a foundational understanding of LGBTQ+ identities, terms, and history. While none of this is new, we are living in a time when more people share their authentic identities and openly challenge the concept of a gender binary. Rochester has a long history as a home for deep social change and this includes LGBTQ+ people. For personal and/or professional reasons, come and join the learning conversation.
Scott Fearing is the coordinator of LGBTQ+ Safe Space Training for the University of Rochester. Fearing began doing LGBTQ+ and HIV education as a college student. He is a native of Minnesota who moved to Rochester in 2006 and then spent 11 years at the Out Alliance, first as Director of Education and then five years as their Executive Director. In addition to his work with the University, he is currently on the Board of Directors of the Rainbow Seniors ROC.
